JU-NANA (17) Specialty Grade Organic Matcha — Two-Cultivar Blend from Kirishima & Uji, Japan
十七 JU-NANA (17) is a matcha where depth and stillness meet, shaped by the quiet harmony of Kirishima and Uji terroirs. Two carefully chosen cultivars create a serene balance — profound umami layered with elegant floral clarity, unfolding like a slow, steady breath. At $45, this is a specialty grade matcha for those who seek complexity and calm in every bowl.
Why JU-NANA (17)?
By blending two cultivars from Japan's most celebrated tea regions — volcanic Kirishima and historic Uji — JU-NANA achieves a rare duality: grounding depth from southern Kyushu and refined elegance from Kyoto. Each cultivar is shade-grown, hand-harvested at peak season, and stone-milled separately before blending. USDA and JAS organic certified.
Tasting Notes
Rich, layered umami on the first sip, followed by elegant floral notes and a gentle sweetness. The finish is long, calm, and deeply satisfying with a silky texture. Vibrant green color with a complex aroma that balances vegetal freshness and subtle sweetness.
How to Prepare
Usucha (thin tea): Sift 2 g (1 tsp) into a warmed bowl. Add 70 ml of 80°C water. Whisk briskly with a chasen in an "M" motion for 15–20 seconds until a fine froth forms.

ORIGIN · 土地
— volcanic soil / mist / depth / luminous green
In the mist-covered highlands of Kirishima, volcanic soil and a cool air give the tea depth and quiet strength. In Uji's most revered and closely guarded tea fields, where access is rare, abundant spring water and soft breezes nurture clarity of aroma and a smooth, refined texture. In their meeting, depth and brightness come into balance. Born from exquisite organic gardens, this harmony is defined by rich amino acids, deep umami, and a finish devoid of bitterness.
CULTIVAR · 品種
— Okumidori / Saemidori
十七 is crafted with only the finest Okumidori and Saemidori leaves—harvested through highly selective hands at the peak of the season, making it both rare and limited. Its composition—70% Kirishima and 30% Uji—draws out the purest character of each terroir, blending tranquility and vividness. The blend is guided by the intuition of Tea Master Morita, three-time champion of the National Tea Appraisal Competition.
-Okumidori special selection offers profound umami, layered depth, and a luminous green clarity
-Saemidori special selection imparts a refined aroma and brightness, with a smooth, elegant finish
ROASTING · 火入れ
— gentle roasting / polish / clarity / craftsmanship
The final touch, hiire, is performed by artisans with over a decade of experience.
Their delicate fire awakens fragrance, polishes sweetness, and brings the blend into serene balance. Hiire is the most critical step in matcha production, defining aroma, depth, and finish.
A soft sweetness opens in quiet elegance, layered with warm roasted depth and whispers of floral brightness, settling into a smooth, lingering stillness that resonates long after the bowl is empty.
Top : Soft sweetness & floral clarity — delicate, luminous, refined
Mid : Roasted depth & subtle earth — Kirishima strength meets Uji grace
Finish : Smooth lingering stillness — serene, resonant, quietly profound

For extra sweetness and umami, whisk with water below 60°C (140°F). Lower temperature reveals a smoother, gentler flavor.
